Mollie Halpern: A new era begins for the FBI with an installation ceremony for Director Christopher Wray at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Wray—the eighth director of the FBI—took his oath of office.

Director Christopher Wray: I, Christopher A. Wray, [Administrator: do solemnly swear] do solemnly swear [that I will support and defend] that I will support and defend [the Constitution of the United States] the Constitution of the United States.

Halpern: Director Wray outlined his vision for the FBI in its mission to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution.

Director Wray: We’re going to abide by the rule of law and our core values. We’re going to follow the facts independently, no matter where they lead and no matter who likes it. And we’re going to always, always pursue justice.

Halpern: Wray says he is “fired-up” for the FBI’s future and called for innovation and new technologies and strategies.

Director Wray: We’re going to push forward with determination and grit. With honesty and integrity and accountability. And most importantly, with heart.
